Willem H. SwartDouglas Stevenson (Chief Executive Officer)

An accomplished Executive Manager with 20 years’ experience and documented success in the areas of planning, executing and negotiating at various organizational levels. Well versed in strategic leadership management, this market focused individual has the ability to sell new strategies and methodologies to all levels in the business; to identify new solutions, directions and disseminate actionable knowledge at Group level.

A motivational and inspiring leader who sets high standards of performance for himself and others, proficient in a variety of challenging functions with demonstrable ability to streamline business outcomes. Dedicated to shareholder value model by incorporating people, processes and strategies to consistently achieve top honours for generating revenue that exceeds margins, year-on-year.

As part of former career highlights, played an instrumental role as part of the team responsible for the project finance deal for Vodacom Tanzania. This effort was acknowledged with the deal of the year award in the Telecoms sector through Standard Bank of London in 2002. Currently, Douglas is the Chief Executive Officer for Telekom Networks Malawi, having joined from Vodacom where he worked as Managing Director of Business Africa Group.

Douglas Stevenson holds a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences, Bachelors of Accounting Science (Honours), and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Peter KadzitchePeter Kadzitche (Chief Finance Officer)

Peter joined Telekom Networks Malawi Limited in in 2005 as a Branch Accountant for Centre and North. He held various management positions in TNM Finance Group before promoted to Managing Executive Financial Management in 2013, a position he held until this appointment.

Peter, a member of ICAM, holds a Bachelor Degree of Accountancy from University of Malawi – Polytechnic and he is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He has more than 13 years working experience in accountancy and finance.

Eric ValentineEric Valentine (Chief Operations Officer)

Mr. Eric Valentine has a formal electro-mechanical qualification obtained through Wits Technicon and Telkom South Africa technical college. He joined the company in September 2012 as the Chief Engineering Officer. He has 40 years telecommunications experience having started his career in the electromechanical era and has played an active part in the industries’ evolution into the digital age. In 1994 he joined Vodacom South Africa and was instrumental in establishing a very creative Value Added Services division which he headed up until 2004, before he relocated to West Africa.

During the last nine years Eric has played pivotal transformation roles with V- mobile in Nigeria and with Vodafone in Ghana. He was instrumental in the transformation of Ghana Telecoms into a competitive modern mobile operator through business, people and technology transformation.

He was also the chief architect in the establishment of modern, convergent fixed and mobile networks, based on an all IP platforms on which Ghana operates today.


Arnold MbwanaArnold K. Mbwana (Chief Internal Auditor)

Mr. Arnold Mbwana is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and holds the Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of Malawi. He has over 11 years’ experience in internal audit, fraud prevention and investigations, enterprise risk management and financial accounting. Arnold started his professional career with NICO Holdings Ltd, a listed, diversified financial services company. He was part of the team which established the Internal Audit Division, and later, the Risk and Compliance Services Division at NICO Holdings Ltd. He rose to the position of Manager within the Risk and Compliance Services Division. In August 2008, he joined World Vision International – Global Centre, USA, as an International Financial Auditor. Working as a Team Leader on international assignments, he performed audits, quality assurance reviews and other special review assignments in over 10 countries in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. Arnold joined TNM as Head of Internal Audit Division in February 2011. He has established the TNM Internal Audit Division, comprising Internal Audit, Risk Management and Fraud Investigations Departments. He was promoted to Chief Internal Auditor in May 2013.

Daniel MakataDaniel Makata (Chief Commercial Officer)

Mr. Daniel Makata holds a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration from the Polytechnic, University of Malawi. He has over 15 years’ experience in telecommunications. He first joined the company in 1999 as part of the marketing department and has held several positions since then in Commercial Operations, Customer Service, Strategy and planning and Innovations. He also has experience in Property management and operations having worked for Press Properties Limited as an Operations Manager.

Vishwajeet DeshmukhVishwajeet Deshmukh (Chief Officer – Enterprise Services)

Mr. Vishwajeet Deshmukh holds a Bachelors of Engineering Degree from Marathwada University in India. In the span of his 10 year career in telecommunications, he has worked with Aditya Birla Group and Ericsson India on Radio Networks and contributed immensely towards network rollout and Radio Access Network (RAN) performance improvements. He joined TNM in 2008 as a Planning and Optimization Consultant and since then has contributed at various functions as Manager for RAN and Head of RAN. He was appointed to the position of Chief Officer-Enterprise Services in October 2016.

Zangaphee ChimomboZangaphee Chimombo (Managing Executive – Information & Customer Services)

Mr. Zangaphee Chimombo holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Chancellor College, University of Malawi and a Master of Science degree from Imperial College, University of London. He has 15 years experience in the information and communications technology sector. He joined the company in 2012 to lead the Billing, Information and Customer Services Group.

Francis KamphataFrancis Kamphata (Managing Executive – Core & VAS)

Mr Francis Kamphata holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic, University of Malawi. He joined TNM in 2011. He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications engineering. Prior to joining TNM, he worked with Malawi Telecommunication Limited, the former MultiCountry Training Centre (an intergovernmental training centre for telecommunications and postal services operated jointly by Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland), Malawi Polytechnic and Airtel (starting from the days of Celtel).

Phyllis MangulutiPhyllis Manguluti (Managing Executive – Regional Operations)

Mrs. Phyllis Manguluti is a holder of Masters in Business Administration and Post graduate Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Phyllis has over 15 years’ experience in Telecommunication Industry. She joined TNM in July 1999 after graduating from Malawi Polytechnic and since then she has played a vital role in the growth of the company. She has been involved in network expansion projects and she was also instrumental in the establishment of TNM’s Network Management Centre which is used to monitor and report on network availability and performance 24/7 using an integrated solution.

Christina MwansaChristina Mwansa (Managing Executive – Legal & Regulatory)

Mrs. Christina Mwansa holds a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from Chancellor College, University of Malawi. She joined the Company in 2000 as a Legal Officer and later the same year was appointed Company Secretary. She has vast legal , corporate, compliance and governance experience. She is a licensed legal practitioner.

Mpezenji GonaniMpezenji Gonani (Head of Division Human Resources)

Mr. Mpezenji Gonani joined TNM in 2008. He holders a Bachelors Degree of Arts in Human Resources Management obtained from University of Malawi Chancellor College and a Master Degree of Business Administration obtained from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI). He has 16 years’ experience in Human Resources Management 7 of which is in telecommunication industry.
